Few people aren't familiar with Damon Runyon--writer, playwright, journalist, alcoholic, and teller of tales from the street. Despite his death in 1946 from cancer, the Damon Runyon Theatre started on the radio in 1949 and became a syndicated program that ran until 1951.

  • Based on Damon Runyon's tales from the street, the program was presented by Broadway, a tough hood from New York. Each program focused on a down-and-out New York street people story but always closed with a happy ending.
