The Academy Award winning film for best picture was How Green Was My Valley.

A dramatic film based on the novel by Richard Llewellyn about a mining village at the turn of the last century.  The story focuses on the Morgans, a stern husband and a gentle wife, raising coal mining sons. The film portrayed a very sentimental view of pre-union miners' lives.
